Base polymers: rubber production increased by 7% in June

According to the published data of the Federal state statistics service (Rosstat), the Index of production of chemicals and chemical products in June 2018 compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 104.4%, in the first half of 2018 — 102.8%.

Plastics in primary forms were produced in June 692 thousand tons (+0.6% compared to June 2017), and 2.8% more than in may 2018. The increase for January-June of this year was 5%.

Polyethylene (PE) in the reporting month was released 194 thousand tons, which is 4.5% more than last June. The increase compared to may this year was 1.4 %. In General, from January to June, PE production increased by 7.1% compared to last year, amounting to 1156 thousand tons.

Polypropylene (PP) in June was produced 117 thousand tons (-7.3% compared to June last year). The increase in production compared to may was 13%. In just six months of this year, 749 thousand tons were produced, an increase of 0.7% (compared to the same period last year).

Polymers of styrene (PS) in the reporting period was released in the amount of 43.9 thousand tons, compared to last year, production decreased by 2.6%. Compared to may 2018, production decreased by 5.8%. In just six months of this year, PS production increased by 0.9% (compared to the same period last year) and amounted to 270.6 thousand tons.

Production of vinyl chloride (PVC) polymers increased by 3.7% in June, amounting to 89.3 thousand tons. In comparison with may, the figure rose by 6.4 %. For the six months of this year, 509.5 thousand tons were produced, an increase compared to January-June last year was 3.4%.
Production of polycarbonate (PC), simple and complex polyesters, alkyd and epoxy resins in the reporting month amounted to 56 thousand tons, a decrease of 2.9% compared to June last year. Compared to may 2017, production remained at the same level. The increase for January-June 2018 by January-June 2017 amounted to 3.7%, in just six months, 345.4 thousand tons were produced.

Polyamide (PA) in June was produced 14.8 thousand tons (+10.7% compared to June 2017). The increase in production compared to may was 5.4%. In total, 87.7 thousand tons were produced in six months, the increase in January-June 2018 compared to the same period last year was 8.1%.

Production of synthetic rubber in June increased by 7%, total accumulated 130 thousand tons of products. The decrease compared to may this year was 10.5%. In January-June rubber production increased by 0.7% compared to the same period in 2017. In just six months, 846 thousand tons were produced.

For reference: the Index of industrial production is calculated by types of activity “Mining”, “Manufacturing”, “Production and distribution of electricity, gas and water” on the basis of data on the dynamics of production of the most important products (in kind or in value terms). The structure of gross value added by economic activity in the 2008 base year (adjusted for informal activities) is used as weights.
