Base polymers: rubber production increased by 18.7% in August

According to the published data of the Federal state statistics service (Rosstat), the index of production of chemicals and chemical products in August 2018. compared with the corresponding period of the previous year was 104.5% in January-August 2018g. – 103.4%.

Plastics in primary forms in August was released 696 thousand tons (+11.9% compared to August 2017), and 2.9% more than in July 2018. The growth for January-August this year was 5.8%.

Polyethylene (PE) in the reporting month was released 178 thousand tons, which is 6.1% more than last August. The decrease compared to June this year was 0.7%. In General, from January to August, PE production increased by 6.5% compared to last year, amounting to 1514 thousand tons.

Polypropylene (PP) in August was produced 129 thousand tons (+3.4% compared to August last year). The decrease in production compared to July was 0.6%. In total, 1008 thousand tons were produced in eight months of this year, an increase of 1.5 % (compared to the same period last year).

Polymers of styrene (PS) in the reporting period was released in the amount of 49.1 thousand tons, compared to the same period last year, production increased by 24.6%. Compared to July 2018, production increased by 3.3%. In just eight months of this year, PS production increased by 0.6% (compared to the same period last year) and amounted to 362.1 thousand tons.

Production of vinyl chloride (PVC) polymers increased by 47.6% in August, reaching 77.1 thousand tons. In comparison with July, the indicator increased by 5.6%. During the eight months of this year, 659.5 thousand tons were produced, an increase compared to January-August last year was 7.6%.

Production of polycarbonate (PC), simple and complex polyesters, alkyd and epoxy resins in the reporting month amounted to 61.5 thousand tons, an increase of 9% compared to August last year. Compared to July 2017, production increased by 3.7%. The increase for January-August 2018 to January-August 2017 amounted to 5.3%, in just eight months 644.3 thousand tons were produced.

Polyamide (PA) in August was produced 11.6 thousand tons (-3.1% compared to August 2017). The decrease in production compared to July was 18.3%. In total, 113.5 thousand tons were produced in eight months, an increase in January-August 2018 compared to the same period last year was 6.4%.

Production of synthetic rubbers in August increased by 18.7%, a total of 131 thousand tons of products. The increase in comparison with July of this year amounted to 3.1%. In January-August, rubber production increased by 6.4 % compared to the same period in 2017. In total, 1105 thousand tons were produced in eight months.
